Agentic AI

AI systems that can autonomously plan, execute multi-step tasks, use tools, and adapt based on results.

Agentic AI refers to artificial intelligence systems that can autonomously pursue complex goals by planning multi-step strategies, executing actions, observing results, and adapting their approach. Unlike simple prompt-response models, agentic AI systems can use tools (APIs, databases, code execution), maintain context across multiple interactions, break down complex tasks into subtasks, handle errors and retry, and make decisions about which actions to take next. In database contexts, agentic AI can autonomously analyze data quality issues, identify optimization opportunities, build multi-step analyses, and proactively surface insights without being explicitly asked for each step.
