Data Governance

The overall management of data availability, usability, integrity, and security within an organization.

Data governance is the framework of policies, processes, roles, standards, and metrics that ensure the effective and efficient use of data in enabling an organization to achieve its goals. Data governance encompasses data quality management (accuracy, completeness, timeliness), data security and privacy (access controls, compliance with regulations like GDPR and CCPA), data cataloging (metadata management, data discovery), data lineage (tracking where data comes from and how it transforms), and data stewardship (assigning ownership and accountability for data assets). Strong data governance enables trust in data, regulatory compliance, and reliable analytics while reducing risks of data breaches, inconsistencies, and costly errors.
