Conversion Rate
The percentage of users who complete a desired action out of the total number who had the opportunity to do so.
Conversion rate is the percentage of users who complete a desired action divided by the total number of users who could have taken that action. It is a fundamental metric across marketing, sales, and product: website visitor to signup (registration conversion), free trial to paid (trial conversion), lead to customer (sales conversion), and cart to purchase (checkout conversion). Conversion rate optimization (CRO) involves systematically testing and improving these rates through A/B testing, UX improvements, messaging changes, and funnel optimization. Even small improvements in conversion rates can significantly impact revenue when applied to large user bases.
